ATLANTA, July 4, 2025 — MyFredy today announced the expansion of its MyFredy Cares Patient Access Initiative, a program designed to help patients meet companion requirements for outpatient procedures when friends or family members are not available. Many procedures — including stent removals, biopsies, cataract surgeries, and oral surgeries — require patients to have a trusted companion present on the day of care.
While transportation may sometimes be covered by insurance or public programs, the person required to accompany the patient and remain on-site is not. This critical gap can force people to delay or cancel medically necessary procedures, resulting in worse health outcomes and higher costs to the entire system.
The MyFredy Cares Patient Access Initiative supports patients who cannot afford professional medical companions, including veterans and others who may face financial or social barriers to meeting these requirements. Through support from local partner organizations and contributions from MyFredy, eligible patients may qualify for reduced-cost or no-cost medical companion services.
“Our communities are stronger when everyone has access to timely, safe treatment,” said Jonathan Greenhill, Founder of MyFredy. “No one should have to postpone essential procedures just because they don’t have someone to accompany them. MyFredy Cares helps close that gap, with a special focus on veterans and others who deserve dignity and access to care.”
The program works through referrals by care coordinators, social workers, or participating partner organizations. Patients receive an access code to book discounted or no-cost medical companion services through MyFredy, helping them complete their procedures without unnecessary delay.
