MyFredy Works with Florida Ambulatory Surgery Centers
Florida’s Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) are leaders in patient safety, efficiency, and recovery outcomes. MyFredy partners with these centers to ensure every patient discharged after anesthesia has a qualified, responsible adult companion — meeting state and facility requirements while reducing day-of-surgery cancellations and delays.
Responsible Adult Certification
MyFredy, LLC provides professional companions (“Fredys”) who fulfill the responsible adult role required for patient discharge following anesthesia or sedation, in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 64B8-9.009 and individual ASC policies.
- Each companion arrives prior to discharge, receives instructions from staff, and escorts the patient safely home.
- The Fredy remains until the patient is settled or another designated adult assumes care, fulfilling the 24-hour supervision expectation.
- All Fredys are trained in post-procedure safety communication and HIPAA-aware conduct.
- MyFredy companions are not medical professionals and provide no clinical services; their role is non-clinical supervision and compliance documentation.
- Upon request, MyFredy provides written confirmation of arrival, discharge, and safe home transfer for the patient record.
This certification satisfies Florida’s requirement that patients be discharged “in the company of a responsible adult”. It does not require that person to be a relative, friend, or medical professional — only that they are competent, responsible, and capable of ensuring patient safety after anesthesia.
Alignment with ASC Policies
- Supports your workflow: Our companions follow ASC instructions precisely and adapt to your existing discharge process.
- Enhances documentation: Our confirmation of discharge and arrival home can be retained in the patient’s chart.
- Reduces cancellations: Patients without available family can proceed safely and on time.
- Meets expectations: Aligns with CMS, AAAHC, and Joint Commission standards for post-anesthesia recovery.

About MyFredy
MyFredy is Florida’s trusted leader in compliant, non-clinical medical companion services. We specialize in helping patients meet discharge and accompaniment requirements following outpatient procedures, ensuring each case aligns with Florida’s regulatory and facility standards.
Our services are designed to complement the expectations of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) and the Florida Board of Medicine. Under Chapters 464 and 400, Florida Statutes, facilities must confirm that patients discharged after anesthesia are accompanied by a responsible adult. MyFredy fulfills this role precisely as written—responsible, non-clinical, and fully compliant—without overstepping into activities that could shift liability back to the provider.
From Orlando and Tampa to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Jacksonville, and Fort Myers, MyFredy supports ASCs and independent providers across the state with on-site, door-to-door, and post-discharge companion services. Our verified professionals are trained to coordinate directly with nurses, anesthesia teams, and discharge staff to ensure clear communication and safe continuity of care.
We maintain rigorous standards for background checks, and confidentiality, protecting both patient and provider. Our companions remain with each patient until they are settled at home or another designated adult assumes care—meeting the “responsible adult” requirement under both Florida Administrative Code 64B8-9.009 and ASC policy frameworks.
Providers choose MyFredy for reliability, documentation, and professionalism. Patients choose us for peace of mind. Together, we close the compliance gap between the surgical suite and safe recovery at home.
Note: MyFredy provides non-clinical medical transportation and companion services required by healthcare providers for outpatient procedures. This is not an adult or entertainment service.
