Responsible Adult Certification

MyFredy, LLC provides professional companions (“Fredys”) who fulfill the responsible adult role required for patient discharge following anesthesia or sedation, in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 64B8-9.009 and individual ASC policies.

  • Each companion arrives prior to discharge, receives instructions from staff, and escorts the patient safely home.
  • The Fredy remains until the patient is settled or another designated adult assumes care, fulfilling the 24-hour supervision expectation.
  • All Fredys are trained in post-procedure safety communication and HIPAA-aware conduct.
  • MyFredy companions are not medical professionals and provide no clinical services; their role is non-clinical supervision and compliance documentation.
  • Upon request, MyFredy provides written confirmation of arrival, discharge, and safe home transfer for the patient record.

This certification satisfies Florida’s requirement that patients be discharged “in the company of a responsible adult”. It does not require that person to be a relative, friend, or medical professional — only that they are competent, responsible, and capable of ensuring patient safety after anesthesia.
