I’m writing this post from the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando, where the annual HR Florida Conference & Expo is in full swing (August 24–27). With over 1,600 HR professionals in attendance, it’s one of the largest gatherings of its kind in the Southeast — and a perfect place to bring MyFredy into the conversation about employee well-being.
HR Florida is the annual conference of the SHRM Florida State Council, which serves as SHRM’s official state affiliate in Florida.
Walking through the expo floor and breakout sessions, I’ve been struck by how many conversations circle back to the same themes: productivity, retention, and employee work-life balance. Every HR leader I’ve met has stories about employees struggling to juggle caregiving duties, medical appointments, or post-procedure support for loved ones. It’s a challenge that drains focus at work, creates absenteeism spikes, and leaves managers scrambling for coverage.
That’s exactly where MyFredy fits in.
In my networking conversations — from morning coffee meetups to evening receptions — I’ve been sharing how MyFredy helps fill this overlooked gap. When an employee or their family member needs someone to provide trusted, non-medical support during outpatient procedures, MyFredy steps in. We provide a reliable “friend” or trusted adult who can handle the check-in, stay during the procedure, and ensure a safe discharge with pharmacy pickup if needed.
For employers, the impact is simple but powerful:
- Restored productivity. Employees don’t have to miss entire days of work or rearrange teams to play caregiver.
- Improved work-life balance. Workers feel supported knowing their loved ones have dependable care during procedures.
- A soft but meaningful benefit. MyFredy becomes an HR resource that improves morale without adding the overhead of a full benefits program.
It’s been energizing to see the reaction from HR professionals here in Orlando. Many have told me they’ve never considered offering this kind of support — but immediately see how it could help reduce stress and keep employees focused. Some even said, “I could have used this last month when…” and then shared their own caregiving juggle stories.
I’ll be continuing the conversation through the rest of the week here at HR Florida. If you’re attending, come find me — I’d love to connect and talk about how MyFredy can be part of your HR toolkit. For those not in Orlando, I’ll be sharing more takeaways after the conference wraps up.
Work doesn’t stop when life happens — but with the right support, balance is possible. MyFredy is here to help employers prove it.
