Outpatient procedure support, aftercare and practical help at home
MyFredy provides professional, non-clinical companion support when you need a responsible adult for an outpatient procedure, continued help after discharge, or a dependable visit at home. Start by choosing the situation that best describes what you need.

Choose the support that matches the situation
The three services solve different needs. Medical Procedure Companions focus on the provider’s responsible-adult requirement. Aftercare continues support during the first recovery hours. Home Visits provide shorter, practical help on a one-time or recurring basis.
Medical Procedure Companions
For outpatient procedures where a facility requires a friend, family member, trusted adult or responsible adult because of sedation, anesthesia or its discharge policy.
- Pickup, facility check-in or a scheduled pre-discharge arrival
- Continuous availability on-site through the procedure
- Responsible-adult presence for the discharge handoff
- Pharmacy stop and return to the patient’s home or hotel
Best fit: Your provider says you cannot arrive, leave or recover alone after the procedure.
Post-Procedure Aftercare
Continued, non-clinical companion support at the patient’s home or hotel after outpatient surgery or another procedure. Aftercare may continue from procedure-day service or begin separately.
- Scheduled support for 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours
- Pharmacy, recovery-supply and simple meal assistance
- Hydration and written medication-schedule reminders
- Companionship, practical help and authorized family updates
Best fit: You want someone nearby during the first hours of recovery at home or in a hotel.
MyFredy Home Visits
Friendly check-ins, errands and practical help for you or someone you care about. Visits may be arranged by the client, an adult child, another relative, a friend or a professional.
- Classic, Double or Extended Visit lengths
- Conversation, companionship, walks and routine appointments
- Grocery, pharmacy, mail and other approved light errands
- Authorized practical updates to a family member or contact
Best fit: You need periodic help rather than a continuous post-procedure recovery block.

What patients can expect from MyFredy
MyFredy is a fully managed service. Our Operations team coordinates the booking, schedule updates, Fredy assignment and day-of support rather than leaving the patient to manage an open marketplace.
Service is guaranteed once booked. Procedure-time changes are expected and coordinated under the booking terms.
-
Reserve the procedure date online
Book the date even if the facility has not provided the final arrival time. A reasonable placeholder may be updated when the provider confirms the schedule.
-
MyFredy Operations reviews the booking
Online booking keeps names, phone numbers, addresses, service details and payment documentation together. Operations follows up when any detail needs clarification.
-
Confirmations continue before the appointment
You receive email and text updates, your Fredy’s information is shared before service, and a final confirmation is requested the day before. Replies are monitored by real people.
-
Your Fredy coordinates arrival
On the day of service, your Fredy contacts you while approaching the pickup address, recovery hotel or procedure facility identified in the booking.
-
Your Fredy remains discreetly available
Fredys do not wear uniforms or use branded vehicles. They present themselves as the patient’s designated companion and remain available on-site through the procedure and discharge.
-
Discharge, pharmacy and return are coordinated
Your Fredy participates in the responsible-adult handoff, helps keep written instructions organized, can complete a pharmacy stop and accompanies you to the planned recovery location. Booked Aftercare may then continue at home or in a hotel.
A responsible adult—not simply a ride home after surgery
A provider may casually say that you need a “driver,” but the actual requirement often includes a named adult who is available during discharge, can communicate with staff and accompanies the patient after sedation or anesthesia.
A taxi, Uber or Lyft ride by itself may not satisfy that requirement. Confirm your facility’s exact policy before procedure day. MyFredy is designed for the companion role as well as the transportation and logistical support around it.
What a Medical Procedure Companion can do
- Arrive at the scheduled pickup point or procedure facility
- Remain on-site and reachable through the procedure window
- Participate in the facility’s responsible-adult discharge process
- Receive and help keep written discharge instructions organized
- Coordinate the return home or to a recovery hotel
- Retrieve prescriptions or essential recovery supplies when needed
What MyFredy does not provide
- Medical diagnosis, treatment or symptom assessment
- Wound care, injections or medication administration
- Vital-sign monitoring or skilled medical observation
- Hands-on personal care, lifting or skilled transfers
- Nursing, home-health or emergency medical services

Frequently asked questions
Confirm procedure-specific medical instructions with your physician or facility. The answers below explain MyFredy’s non-clinical service and scheduling process.
What if my facility has not confirmed the procedure time?
Reserve the procedure date and use a reasonable placeholder arrival time. Many outpatient facilities confirm schedules closer to the appointment. Send MyFredy the final time when it becomes available so Operations and your Fredy can update the plan.
Does my Fredy stay at the facility during the procedure?
Yes. For Medical Procedure Companion service, your Fredy remains available on-site through the procedure and discharge rather than leaving and returning later.
Can I take an Uber, Lyft or taxi home instead?
A rideshare or taxi by itself may not meet a facility’s responsible-adult requirement. Many providers want a named adult who is involved in the discharge handoff and accompanies the patient after sedation. Confirm your facility’s policy rather than assuming transportation alone will be accepted.
What happens if the procedure runs longer than expected?
Your Fredy remains available through discharge. Medical Procedure Companion bookings include a 30-minute grace period, and additional time is handled under the booking terms when service continues beyond the reserved block.
Can Post-Procedure Aftercare be booked separately?
Yes. Aftercare may continue directly from a Medical Procedure Companion booking or begin separately at the patient’s home or hotel when another responsible adult is already handling the procedure and discharge.
What is the difference between Aftercare and Home Visits?
Aftercare is a scheduled block of continued support during the first recovery hours following a procedure, generally lasting 4 to 24 hours. Home Visits are shorter, one-time or recurring visits for check-ins, errands, routine appointments and other approved practical needs.
Can a family member, friend or provider book for the patient?
Yes. A patient may book directly, or another person may arrange and pay for service. The booking process keeps the patient’s information separate from the family member, friend, professional or provider making the arrangements.
Can I pay with an HSA or FSA card?
MyFredy accepts HSA and FSA card payments at checkout. Eligibility and permitted use depend on the individual plan, so confirm the expense with your plan administrator and retain your MyFredy receipt.
Does MyFredy provide medical or personal care?
No. MyFredy provides non-clinical companion and practical support. Fredys do not diagnose, assess symptoms, provide wound care, administer medications, monitor vital signs, perform skilled transfers or replace a nurse, personal-care aide or home-health professional.
