Information for Providers
MyFredy helps outpatient facilities reduce cancellations and discharge-risk friction by fulfilling a common requirement: patients must have a “friend or family member” or other trusted adult available for check-in (when required), on-site waiting, discharge instructions, and a safe return home. MyFredy provides strictly non-clinical companion support so your team can discharge with confidence.
Trusted, Non-Clinical, and Scope-Clear
MyFredy is not a rideshare service and we do not provide medical care. We remain strictly non-clinical by design. This helps meet companion requirements without introducing clinical activity that can unintentionally shift responsibility back to the provider.
Vetted, Trained, and Insured
MyFredy team members are vetted and trained for outpatient companion workflows with a professional, discreet presence. We coordinate tightly with the patient and remain reachable by text and email for confirmations leading up to the appointment.
What MyFredy Covers for Discharge Compliance
- Arrival with the patient when the facility requires companion presence at check-in
- On-site waiting through discharge (we do not leave the facility)
- Receipt of discharge instructions and responsible adult sign-out
- Safe return-home support and optional non-clinical aftercare when requested
- Pharmacy pickup or essential recovery item retrieval when needed
A Note on “Driver” Language
Scheduling teams sometimes say “driver” when communicating discharge requirements. In practice, this is typically shorthand for the true policy: a trusted or responsible adult must be accountable for the patient after sedation or anesthesia. MyFredy is built specifically to satisfy that responsible adult requirement.
Procedures and Settings Supported
MyFredy supports a wide range of ambulatory and outpatient scenarios, including GI, ENT, orthopedics, dental/oral surgery, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and more. We also support certain ER and urgent care discharges when a responsible adult is required.
Aligned with Outpatient Discharge Requirements
Many ambulatory surgery centers and outpatient clinics require patients to have a friend or family member — a trusted adult — available for discharge and the trip home. This policy is common after anesthesia or sedation and is intended to reduce preventable risk.
MyFredy provides professional, non-clinical companion support designed to align with these discharge expectations. Our team members arrive on time, remain available during the procedure when required, receive instructions directly from staff, and support a safe transition home.
MyFredy participates in the broader ambulatory surgery community through membership in a national ambulatory surgery center association, reinforcing our commitment to standards-aware, provider-aligned support.

Inform Early to Prevent Cancellations
The simplest way to reduce day-of cancellations is to communicate the companion requirement early. Schedulers, administrators, and surgical coordinators can recommend MyFredy as a resource at the time companion requirements are discussed.
