A Fredy is much more than a ride home
The central responsibility is being the dependable adult a patient and outpatient facility can rely on during a procedure-day transition. Depending on the service, the Fredy’s involvement can begin at the patient’s home or hotel, at facility check-in, or shortly before discharge.
Service Types
Round Trip
The Fredy picks the patient up at home or a hotel, accompanies the patient to the facility, remains available through discharge, and provides the return trip.
Meet at Check-In
The Fredy meets the patient at the facility for check-in, remains available through discharge, and provides transportation to the recovery destination.
Discharge Home
The Fredy arrives before discharge and provides transportation from the facility to the patient’s home or hotel.
Qualified Fredys may also receive non-clinical Aftercare or Home Visit opportunities based on local demand.

Fredy job FAQs
Is a car required to become a Fredy?
Yes, except for applicants serving New York City’s five boroughs. In every other MyFredy market, a valid driver’s license and clean, reliable, insured qualifying vehicle are required to apply. Every Fredy assignment includes providing the patient’s transportation home or to the approved recovery location; only the personal-vehicle requirement changes in New York City’s five boroughs.
Is a Fredy mainly a driver?
No. Transportation home is required on every assignment, but the Fredy role is broader than driving. A Fredy serves as the professional, non-clinical responsible adult for the assignment, communicates with the patient and provider staff, remains available as required, supports discharge, and personally completes the return-home or recovery handoff.
Is this a medical or clinical job?
No. Fredys provide non-clinical companion support. They do not provide nursing care, medical advice, medication administration, clinical monitoring, home-health services or medical transportation.
What kinds of assignments do Fredys receive?
Procedure-day assignments include Round Trip, Meet at Check-In and Discharge Home service. Depending on qualifications and local demand, Fredys may also receive non-clinical Aftercare or Home Visit opportunities.
How are Fredys paid?
Compensation is established for the individual assignment and shown before acceptance. It reflects the service block and may also reflect approved premiums or additional time. Expense reimbursement is separate from compensation.
Does approval guarantee assignments or earnings?
No. Fredys are independent contractors and assignment volume varies by patient demand, market, proximity, availability, experience and the needs of each booking.
